Babymoon 2011

If you've never heard of a babymoon, join the club. Neither had we until we started seeing the term show up in pregnancy books and prenatal magazines. It's apparently a trip that expectant parents take to eat, sleep and talk without interruptions before their lives become dominated by something hungry, fussy and small.

When I planned our trip to Hawaii early this summer, we weren't even pregnant yet. My thought was that we needed to take full advantage of Dave's last year on the academic calendar, when he gets a month off over Christmas. After that he'll be a working stiff like the rest of us, begging for a long weekend off to go somewhere really exotic, like Omaha.

If nothing else, this will serve as evidence for our child (and us) that we really did have a life before him or her. And actually, it was quite good.

To view the evidence, click on the play button below. Once it starts playing, be sure to click the button in the lower right corner of the video box that says "360p" and select "720p" from the pull down menu so you can view it in HD. It'll take a little longer to load, but it's worth it because you'll get to see the real Hawaii. YouTube automatically condenses photos and makes them look grainier than they really are.

Oh, and watch it on your desktop or laptop with the volume cranked high. It's easier to read the captions and you'll get the full tropical feel. Enjoy!

  4. Thanks for sharing your time in paradise. It's something you can pull out and watch during the cold Chicago winters.

  5. Looks awesome. Glad you got in a little relaxation - for the last time you'll have it for what... 18 years? ;) Wait, I meant to say, "motherhood is a joy and blessing". And it is, but so is a full night's sleep. :)
